A personal watercraft (or PWC) offers a great way to enjoy outdoor adventures out on the water. Before you start exploring any models or visit a PWC dealership, however, it helps to get a general sense of what you want.

Boat Masters Marine is here to help. We created the following buying guide to help you determine what you do - and do not - need from your purchase. For more tips or for personalized model recommendations, visit our dealership in Akron, Ohio.

Decide Between One Rider or Multiple Riders

If you plan on enjoying solo adventures, pick a PWC that can only fit one rider. These models will be smaller and weigh less, making them more agile as well as easier to handle.

If you want to bring others in on the fun, look for a PWC that can handle more than one person. These models will weigh more, which will also help them to be more stable.

Decide Between Stand-Up or Sit-Down PWC

Stand-up personal watercraft offer a more adrenaline-fueled experience. They are better suited for more experienced riders as well as those with the physical stamina needed to stand up throughout the ride.

Sit-down PWC are the more common option. Riders will sit down and use handlebars to steer, not unlike a bicycle or motorcycle. These are considered to be the more comfortable riding experience.

Decide Between New or Used PWC

New personal watercraft are going to come with all of the latest and greatest features. This can range from better fuel efficiency to a more ergonomic setup.

Used PWC are going to be the most budget-friendly. These models will be a small fraction of their original cost.
